These last few months have been the hardest I’ve ever experienced. Mid-Summer, I was in full swing, doing shows in Mexico City, just came out on the cover of this Spanish Entertainment newspaper called La Vibra that is on news stands all over Houston, at bus stops, street corners, shows in San Jose and Los Angeles, things were going great. Until my daughter went into the hospital, and other crazy unnecessary drama at the same time. Then a hurricane came and so many setbacks ensued. I know there are many people in the world who have experienced far more than me but being in Houston with no family, minimal friends, just myself and my daughter, it was wild. Gas stations, grocery stores all ran out 2 days before it hit. Bounced out of town, came back to a city with no power, curfews, straight police state. Running water came back eventually, stores opened slowly, power little by little but after 3 weeks, I was still living by candle light and canned food. Finally after 4 weeks, and 2 days I got power back on. Again, what I’m going through is minimal compared to people in Palenstine, or elsewhere but I write all this to tell you that those crazy moments by candle light made for good song writing. The fact that so much drama happened all at once made for good song writing by candle light with my trusty headphones, 1 pack of batteries, beats by Carlos, water jug, pen and paper. Spiritual Warfare 2 is alive and the best music I’ve ever recorded. Recorded 75% of it in one week, recorded 6 songs in 4 hours. That night I had my daughter, mini TV, DVD player, movies, snacks, diapers, juice and I recorded 1 of the best songs I’ve ever recorded called "Raise Me Up." It only gets better and it will get harder but best believe my skin is thick and I’m ready for what life brings.
