JEHUNIKO PRESENTS THE INFORMATION REVOLUTION

Jehuniko, Roccett ( of Young Jeezy's label CTE ) and Zin

Recently, Zin of SOS Radio / Trickle Down Entertainment invited me to accompany him to the Ozone Awards in Houston, TX. I had planned on going but my interest started to decline as I thought of other things I could get into, like recording. Not to mention, probably not really my crowd. Zin had press passes for his radio show so we went all over the Hilton Hotel. From Asylum’s listening event in the room to the chaos on the ground floor with a million MC’s to be, booths, major label artists, all just chilling, networking, to listening to producers such as Jim Jonsin (Party Like a Rockstar), Cory Mo ( UGK, Down South), and more speak on production. This one fool was filming himself walk back from the mic stand where the crowd could stand in line to ask the producers questions. Homeboy filmed himself, talking to himself as he walked down the aisle back to his seat…..funny.

Bushwick Bill, Al B of Royal Flush, Zin

During the artist panel, Killer Mike killed it. Speaking on raw realities, speaking on Raza, Black communities, and spoke for a long time, like an ill hip hop sermon. Much respect for that. Bun B dropped knowledge as well. These are good representations of peers, working artists, evolving and growing. As we spoke to many people, one crazy memory was Chamillionaire sticking his arm through to shake Zin’s hand. Chamillionaire had on the thickest diamond bracelet I’ve ever seen. I feel Cham’s music for the most part but I’m sure that diamond sweat band could feed a city for a few years….crazy. Mistah Fab was cool as fuck, Mike Dean, the OG Houston producer was hella cool also. There was hardly no Raza there. I met a few cats though. The 1st Raza MC signed to Swishahouse, Lil Young, he was cool.

We supposed to work on something. Bottomline, Ozone puts on a good event, Beverly, D-Ray and all of them do a good thing for the music industry, whether you feel these artists or not. One thing is for certain, these people define grinding it out. Relentless and hella resourceful. Ozone provides people a platform to get heard if you in the South or West Coast so I appreciate being able to kick it, drink a free beer in the Asylum room and meet cool people down to work.

Do Work, like Memphitz tattoo say.
