DERTY DEN INTERVIEW

Illuminati 2G is here with Derty Den how's it going?

Chillin man, checkin my Twitter (www.Twitter.com/DertyDen) and my Myspace (www.Myspace.com/DirtyDenGit).

Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there?

Well I got my start just actually being around the studio on some other business and actually seeing what was goin on incorporating it with what I was doing. People started hearing me and asking me to write hooks for them and after a while I said let me just do my own thing because I realized I had a talent. My influences were people like B.I.G., Jayz, Scarface, and Eazy E. They had the greatest effect on me.
Tell me about the new mixtape, Southern Dynasty and what inspired you to do it?

Well I just took a look at what was goin on and the feeling of music today and I reached out to some of the big dogs in tha game wit a few of my industry friends and just made it happen with Djhitz, Stall and Dean and Flud watch. We just mixed in my popping record "FlyShyt" and my remix of "Death of Autotune" and it just was a run...haha.
So will we see more mixtapes like this with big name rappers or more showcasing the talent on the label?
Tha southern dynasty mixtape was to get everybody ready for what's coming up. Two major mixtapes with features from artist from the label and showin the whole creative side of Derty Den wit the "Industry needs Me" and "Carolina aint enough" two solid projects...so basically it was a teaser.
Let's get into your solo work?
Ok I have the "Heatwave" mixtape out now with DJ Don Cannon which was the first in a series of street mixtape albums. Don Cannon put this together and I would say its one of Cannon's best works...haha.
What is set next to drop for you?

What I have set next is the "Industry needs Me" project which is settin everyone up for the "Carolina aint Enough" project hosted by Dj Ike gda.
Solo mixtapes, albums, any release dates set?

We gone just say its coming soon we buildin the momentum for it, now I'm on the road doin shows setting the carolina united tour we gone take some of your favorite North Cak artist on the road with us and show yall how we do in the cak!

Other than yourself, who is set to drop next from the label?
We are preppin to drop tha new Drama Squad mixtape wit Dj Smallz they will also be on the Carolina United Tour along with Shelly B. I got some big shit goin on wit Shelly B too, we gone keep yall posted...lol

What are your feelings right now on the state of hip hop coming from the south right now?

I feel like its wideopen right now I feel that hip hop is in need of a new leader someone everybody can connect with and not in them skinny ass jeans....lol. I mean, soon you gonna hear a case of a dude catching yeast infection from that.
HA, Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates coming up for you?
