6/3/08: Jovonnie Feature

Remember the name Jovonnie! She' may just be the biggest surprise hit in indie R&B for 2008. Jovonnie, who recently signed to new California-based Jadar Records,  initially released her debut single, "Was She Worth It," just to test the waters via a few local restaurants and clubs—but the NOW song has taken off.  In fact, its early success could well mark one of  the firsts 2008 break-out R&B artists.

This was evident at Urban Network's 20^th year anniversary event where Jovonnie not only took home a third place prize but was later awarded an "artist spotlight" in the print version of the long-standing urban music industry trade. The word is out about the Jadar artist's outstanding vocals and hot song. Radio stations such as WUKS, North Carolina; WGOV, Georgia; and WTJY, Mississippi are all adding the track.

"Jovonnie is definitely someone to lookout for," says Jadar Records CEO, Janet Brown. "We signed her almost on the spot because we sensed that the market was going to be very open to her classic R&B style made new for today. With her on our roster, we can confidently say that Jadar is a force in making certain that a full spectrum of R&B offerings are available  to the music scene."

Now, Jovonnie is readying for her first major appearances. Having performed locally at smaller venues in her native area of California, the artist is set to perform at WUKS' large summer music festival in North Carolina in mid-June, 2008 . "We are so excited to have Jovonnie perform at the Stone Soul Music Festival," offers WUKS Program Director, Taylor Hicks, "Her single 'Was She Worth It' is our number #1 requested song on our station."

Get ready to say "I remember Jovonnie when…" 'Cause she's about to take off.
